Sexting – the sending or receiving of sexually suggestive messages, photos, or videos – has become increasingly normalized, particularly among adolescents and young adults. This normalization, however, has led to a significant increase in privacy risks. One of the most alarming aspects of modern sexting is the high likelihood of images being mishandled.

Sextortion – or sexual content blackmail – is often used to threaten the victim, using tools like AI to create seemingly real explicit or embarrassing content. Even if obviously fake, this content can still be a devastating situation to experience.
